[03/12/06] Friends, family, and loved ones, In the last century our culture has created works of art that hold up a mirror to our own simplistic existence and in doing so forever change us at a foundational level. Art that leaves such an impact on our lives will be heralded for centuries in history books as endlessly thought provoking, generationally imperative for a uniformed historical consensus shift, and neo-socially and adversely psycho-biologically altering. We read Sophie's Choice and it gave us a new perspective of the un-romanticized essence of evil. We watched Million Dollar Baby and we altered our definition of heart and perseverance. We stood silently in the presence of Francis Bacon's oil on canvas and sank to the newly found understanding of desperation, fraud, and loneliness. This Wednesday and Thursday (March 15th and 16th) the next step in life altering art will premiere on Fox Television. From the writers that brought you "South Park," "Friends," "Team America," and "How I Met your Mother," and from the Directors of "Dodgeball," "Dr. Doolittle," "I-Spy," "Super Troopers," and "The Dukes of Hazard," Somebody give me a frickin' drum roll and crank up Eye of the Tiger from Rocky 4......................................."THE LOOP" premieres right after "American Idol" on Wednesday March 15th. (Get a Sharpie, write it down; forearm, inner thigh, back of your Celica). And while some may argue that it's not the life altering event that Entertainment Weekly, People, New York Times, TV Guide, Rolling Stone, and Horse and Hound have all proclaimed it to be, I say only this: I guarantee that it's funny. That's right I guarantee it. I've never made this guarantee before and there's a good reason for that. I would owe a lot of people a lot of money cause let's be honest, I've done some crappy frickin' films in the last 4 years. "The Hot Chick" (I woulda' owed you 8.50), "Dumb and Dumberer" (8.50 plus 7 bucks for the six pack of Busch Light that you had to drink before you could even think about buyin' a ticket, "Not another Teen Movie" (8.50 unless you're a Frat boy then you owe me 8.50 cause "that movie was freakin' sweet!") "Local Boys" (I owe you nothin' cause that movie only plays at 1 a.m. On Showtime and Wham, and if your watching Wham at 1 a.m. nobody owes you anything. But this time I guarantee the funny. Seriously, Bret Harrison is like a young Tom Hanks. I'm doing a fusion of Seinfeld's Kramer and Vince Vaughn from "Wedding Crashers". Phillip Baker Hall is the semi-lucid boss of a dying airline; Mimi Rodgers is a sex starved VP; and Sarah Mason and Amanda Loncar, two of the funniest girls on the planet, that just happen to be smokin' hot. That my friends is the foundation for comedy gold, and the episodes only get funnier. Our best ones are episodes 5,6,7, so set your clocks and calendars and prepare for the next step in life altering art. As always thanks for the continuing support and feel free to forward this to all your family and friends, and their family and friends, and Tom Delay. Much Love, Eric Christian Olsen [08/26/04] Hey everybody! I just wanted to write a quick note to say thank you for all the support and love that you guys have been giving. This site is amazing and Frances is doing an awesome job! 13,000 visitors is incredible! You guys frickin' rock! I’m in rainy Vancouver B.C. at the present moment shooting Tru Calling. They made some nice additions this season and i think the show is gonna be pretty tasty. My character “Jensen” comes in on the second episode and then all hell breaks lose. It's worth taking a look. Updates on Mojave: It just premiered at the LA film festival and based on the reaction of the peanut gallery it's one of those movies that you either love or hate. It’s endlessly dark; a nice fusion of evil from Deliverance, self-discovery of Fight Club, and the loss of innocence of Stand By Me. The producers (god bless them) are working with a couple of studios for distribution so we'll see what happens. In the mean time check out Cellular… Well, I haven’t seen the final product, so the movie could be Pluto Nash bad, but I do wear this 8-foot whale costume that was pretty wicked hilarious. On a side note: Fan-mail is being sent to 35 different locations (most of which some desk-jockey throws away...I’ll have him killed) so I’m working on finding a centralized location that lends itself to co-habitated mail. Till that happens send Mail to this add, and I’ll do my best to write back. If you desire a photo please include one of those big brown envelope thingies with a return add on it. The Sutton Place Attention Eric Christian Olsen 845 Burrard St. Vancouver B.C. V6Z 2K6 Depending on how the cookie crumbles with “Jensen” Fox has big plans for me and there are a couple of feature film projects in the pipeline too, so keep your fingers and toes crossed and Frances will keep you posted. Much Love ECO [webmiss note] the fan mail address on this page is dated. Check here for the current address. << BACK |
